The "BLACK" dog tags have been made according to the regulation of the January 15, 1967 of the United States Army, Vietnam (USARV) which ordered to all of the Special Operation Groups operating behind enemy lines to blacken all insignia when in the field. This regulation is still in force up today and it is the identification used by all of the Special Operations Groups (green berets, army rangers, navy seals, commandos, etc) of the U.S. army.
