Grow Iceland Poppies from freshly harvested Papaver nudicaule wildflower seeds. Iceland Poppy flowers will produce gorgeous, paper like blooms in an array of colors including, yellow, red, orange & white. The blooms themselves range in size from 2 to 3 inches in diameter, displaying yellow centers. The plants themselves will grow to a mature height of roughly 12 to 24 inches tall and have thin, furry stems. The foliage is also equally attractive. Iceland Poppy flowers are categorized as a tender perennial flowering plants in warmer regions and annual flowering plants in cooler regions. Perennial plants will establish a deep root system that allow the plants to return the following growing season if temperatures aren't too harsh. Annual plants will grow quickly, bloom for a few short weeks, later wilting with the first killing frost. Even if you reside in the North where temperatures are cooler, Iceland Poppy flowers are known to readily self seed. They will drop their seeds to the bare ground beneath, only to reemerge the following season as a new plant. The beautiful and colorful Iceland Poppy is best sown in masses, creating carpets of gorgeous blooms. They can be established in flower beds & raised beds, along borders and in naturalized settings & fields as well. They are known to attract an array of beneficial insects to the garden, such as butterflies, bumblebees, ladybugs and even hummingbirds as well. Iceland Poppy wildflowers are fairly easy to establish from seed and don't need excessive care. They can be combined with a number of other Poppies from our Poppies seed category.
