A WHETSTONE KNIFE SHARPENER, THE PROFESSIONAL CHOICE FOR A KNIFE SHARPENER The stone comes in a handy solid plastic case. A two sided Combination fine/coarse combination sharpening stone. How to use: Soak the whetstone in water for about 5 to 10 minutes or until only a little air bubbles appearing, that indicates the stone have absorbed the optimum amount of water necessary for best result. And keep applying water while sharpening. The reason for using the water is, the water make the small stone particles released when sharpening, form an abrasive substance that gives the best sharpening result. Place the stone on a slip resistant surface like a wet wiping piece or a wet dishcloth. If you're handy with woodwork you can make a wooden base, but a wet dishcloth will do just fine. Start with moving the blade, at an angle of 10 - 15°, back and forth (away from and towards the body) using the coarse side of the stone. Remember to apply water. Always start at the tip of the blade, only using light pressure, and pull the blade over the stone through the middle and down to the base of the blade. Repeat several times, until a fine edge will have developed, then turn the knife around to sharpen the other side of the blade. To finish the process turn the Stone around and repeat the same procedure on the fine side of the stone Rinse the the blade and the stone carefully with hot water. .jpg
