Vinca is the most popular, most sold and most planted warm-season bedding plant .
We sometimes call this plant periwinkle.
Vinca (Catharanthus roseus) is very drought tolerant and has a very long blooming season.
It can also tolerate the highest temperatures we face during the summer growing season.
How to sow:
Periwinkle seeds need complete darkness to germinate and are sensitive to cool temperatures. Transplant outside 1 to 2 weeks after the last spring frost. Annual. soak the seeds overnight before sowing.
A very easily grown plant, it succeeds in almost any soil,but prefers those that are on the richer side
75-80ºF. Cover seed lightly with sowing medium and place in dark.
cover the seed with 1/4 inch(6mm) of growing mix,then place the tray in complete darkness at about70 to 80 F (21 to 27C) germination takes from 15 to 20 days When to tiny seedlings are visable,move the tray to a bright spot and remove any covering to increase air circulation.
Do not put them outside until the weather gets warmer.once the weather gets warmer the plants are very easy to maintain outside
