All natural perlite is an excellent addition to every home and garden. It forms naturally inside the earth as amorphous volcanic glass with a high water content, and has the interesting property of greatly expanding when subjected to intense heat--similar to popcorn! The expanded form of perlite is commonly used in agriculture for water drainage due to its low density, as well as for it's ability to assist in maintaining a neutral pH. Perlite is a great supplement for making garden soil, potting mix, carnivorous plant soil (Venus fly trap), soil for succulents, and other natural soil mixtures.
