The black rose is actually a hybrid. There are no black roses found in nature, but don't let that fool you into thinking they are a new creation. They have actually been around since Victorian times. The black rose is sometimes used to symbolize things such as vampires and the occult, but also has many less macabre meanings such as intrigue, mystery, and mourning, symbolizing death, grief, and tragedy. They have been used at funerals as a final farewell for ages.
