OTHER:Â Â Sweet Pitcher Plant is carnivorous! To catch bugs, the plants emit a sweet nectar scent that lures insects to them. Hairs on the inside top of the pitcher to direct bugs into its mouth & keep them from escaping. Once trapped, they insects are digested by the plant giving it vital nutrients. The Sweet Pitcher is a small species, but they have large showy "lids" with red veins that are an even brighter red than the rest of the pitcher. Sarracenia Rubra is native to the Southeastern US. It is found naturally in bogs, marshes, & along streams & need these conditions to thrive. The Sweet Pitcher Plant forms clumps, & they have lovely red flowers that smell like raspberries!
