This book contains five very short (approximately 1500 words each) vignettes written from the perspective of characters other than Polly Giller.

The first vignette is a short story about a sweet new addition to Joss and Nate Mikkels' family. Vignette #2 is a look at some of the folk who drop in at Joe's Diner. Lucy always has her hands full. In the third vignette, we find Simon Gardner dealing with the fact that people are going to keep an eye on him. He's not at all happy with them, no matter how nice it is. Vignette #4 is a fun exchange between Beryl, Lydia and Andy. Whenever those three are together, something interesting is discussed. The final vignette jumps ahead a few months to Christmas at Stephanie and Kayla Armstrong's apartment. After all they've been through, it's time for something wonderful to happen to those girls.

The Bellingwood books are written from Polly's perspective and every once in a while it's fun to look at what's happening behind the scenes from the viewpoint of other characters.
