A McCabe novel set in today's world. Rick McCabe, descendant of the legendary gunfighter Johnny McCabe, is sheriff of the county that bears his family's name. When a woman is kidnapped and her husband is murdered, all clues point to a family of sadistic, violent survivalists in an adjoining county. Meanwhile, a sniper is taking shots at Rick, and there might be connections to his former military career in black ops. Rick has to handle both situations, despite a system that seems rigged against him. How far is he willing to go to find the kidnapped woman, and keep the citizens of his county safe?
