The Ceylon Cinnamon (Cinnamomum zelanicum/ Cinnamomum verum ) referred to as "sweet cinnamon" and "true cinnamon" is considered superior to the other types of cinnamon available in the global market as it contains the right flavour, aroma and softness.
- DO YOU KNOW WHY THE COLOUR AND FLAVOR OF CEYLON CINNAMON VARY FROM BRAND TO BRAND? The outer bark of the cinnamon tree is peeled off to make cinnamon sticks. But if the dark brown outer bark was added when grinding into powder, the mix will become darker and more bitter in taste. Inner barks always come in a lighter brown, and here at Ceylon Flavors, our fresh and pure Ceylon cinnamon powder comes only from the rolled sticks of the inner bark and always appears light brown.
- IS CEYLON CINNAMON POWDER LIGHT BROWN OR DARK? Ceylon cinnamon powder should come only from the inner bark of the tree, which is light brown; but if the darker brown outer bark was added, the color becomes darker and the cinnamon more bitter in taste. The outer bark should be peeled off in the process of producing Ceylon cinnamon.
- WHY DOES CEYLON CINNAMON POWDER COME IN LIGHT BROWN? We grind only the light brown inner bark of the cinnamon tree compared to most of the other products, which come as a mix of the inner and outer bark of the cinnamon tree.
- WHAT IS THE REAL FLAVOR OF CEYLON CINNAMON? Ceylon cinnamon has a delicate, mild, and sweet flavor. It is not strong and has no spicy flavor like cassia or any other variety of cinnamon.
- WHY CEYLON CINNAMON IS CONSIDERED HEALTHIER? The coumarin rate in Ceylon cinnamon is considerably lower compared to cassia cinnamon. researchers believe a high amount of coumarin can cause health risks.
