Andre Norton and Dorothy Madlee's beloved series for young readers: Star Ka'at

After traveling to the planet Zimorrah, home of the Star Ka'ats, Jim and Elly Mae join Tiro, Mer, and others on an interplanetary journey to another ka’at colony where life-forms have grown to monstrous proportions and have nearly exterminated the struggling ka’at colonists. Bees the size of large dogs, wasps bigger that wild turkeys, and praying mantises taller than Jim attack the travelers and seek to destroy them. Humans, cats, and ka'ats will have to uncover what happened and find a way to make the planet safe from the giant insects.
