An air shock works the same way a gas shock would, the only difference is that it is filled with air and controlled by an air suspension compressor. An air shock is a shock that is pressurized with air. There are active and non-active air shock systems. An active system is directly connected electronically and controlled by the control module. This is a non-active system, which also known as a passive air shock system; is not directly connected to the control module however a height sensor in the vehicle lets the control module know to have the air suspension compressor add or release air as needed .
