Suitable for flaps when a soft closing motion is required. So, if you have a drop leaf that is not too heavy (under 22 pounds), than this a good thing to get.
PS:This gas spring is only designed for using on slowing down a drop leaf of cabinets or desks, not for supporting drop lids or keepin lid stay.
