Product Review
Green tea is the national drink of China. Everyone has a green tea cup and hot water stations for brewing a new batch are everywhere. This may help to explain why there are fewer occurances of some diseases and lower rates of obesity among the Chinese. Green tea has been around as a beverage for thousands of years. It comes from the same plant as black tea but goes through less processing leaving more of the beneficial polyphenols intact. Only in the last twenty years have the amazing health benefits of the herb become clear.
The metabolism-boosting properties of the drink have come to light only in the last few years. Green tea contains EGCG, an antioxidant that helps to burn calories and aids in the metabolism of fat. Green tea extract may also promote skin health. Our green tea extract is similar to matcha green tea in that you absorb all of the nutrients rather than discarding some as you do when you brew tea.
Green tea extract was the subject of a couple of exciting new studies indicating its effectiveness in raising metabolism for weight loss and fighting disease with its super antioxidants. The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition conducted a study in which it was found that green tea extract significantly increased energy expenditure (a measure of metabolism), and fat oxidation. The researchers felt that this study had wonderful implications for weight control. The study indicated a nearly 40% increase in daytime thermogenesis. In other words, dieters would burn 40% more fat during the day with Green Tea Extract.
Safety Issues: Green tea, a common beverage, is on the FDA's list of food that is generally considered safe. It contains small amounts of caffeine.
