You are purchasing one 8-12'' tall (pot height is not included) Jackfruit Artocarpus Heterophyllus Seedling 8-13" Tree Starter Plant in 3'' square pot. The jackfruit tree is well suited to tropical lowlands, and its fruit is the largest tree-borne fruit, reaching as much as 35 kg (80 lb) in weight, 90 cm (35 in) in length, and 50 cm (20 in) in diameter. The jackfruit tree can produce about 100 to 200 fruits in a year. The jackfruit is a multiple fruit, composed of hundreds to thousands of individual flowers, and it is the fleshy petals that are eaten. The flesh of the jackfruit is starchy and fibrous and is a source of dietary fiber. The flavor is comparable to a combination of apple, pineapple, mango, and banana The main fruiting season is in summer and fall. Some fruit may ripen at other times, but usually not in winter and early spring. The jackfruit is well adapted to the hot humid tropics. Jackfruit grows well in the humid subtropical climate of south Florida along the coastal areas where there are only occasional freezes. Optimum growth and production occurs in continuously warm areas. IMPORTANT! Small plants need protection from cold, wind, sun, dry-out. Place all plants in a spot of moderate temperatures (70-80F) in good light but NOT in a direct sun for two weeks until they adjust from shipping in darkness . NO direct sun, NO partial shade - FULL SHADE ONLY! Sun will burn small plants! Allow the plants a week or two to adjust to their new home before transplanting or fertilizing. If you plan to plant them in the garden, gradually increase their exposure to sunlight and outdoor conditions! Temperatures falling below 60F can result in plant damage.
