If you need the bottle lights to sparkle long into the night, you simply connect the charger to an outlet and the lights will continue to shine while they charge. Should you wish to charge the lights when not in use, just keep the lights switched off with the charger connected to an outlet.
NOTE : If the lights are charged while in use, the indicator light will not change from red to green. Consequently, after 2hrs you can unplug the charger regardless of the color shown by the indicator light.
