The surface of the spoon has been treated with food safe oil. For full protection, oil it regularly with wood oil. Handwash only -- do not stick it in the dishwasher. Do not soak any wood boards, as they will warp. Because of the unique nature of wood pieces, each spoon may vary slightly in appearance and color, but each is a work of art!
