How to use this remote:

1) Turn on your camcorder
2) Go into the menu settings on the Camcorder and switch the setting for wireless remote control to "ON" (see the camera's instructions for that). If you don't do this, your camcorder won't communicate with the remote as it cannot receive the infrared signal from the remote.
3) Install the included battery into the remote control according to the drawings. The battery has an unconventional way of being inserted. It is placed in the battery tray with the remote upside down. Keep that in mind when changing the battery or removing it when not in use.
4) Your camcorder remote now works.

The steps of installing the battery:

A) If yours is a new unit.
B) Take off the plastic wrapper on the remote. You may have to open it with scissors. (the plastic, not the remote.)
C) Discard the plastic wrapper properly.
E) Hold the control in either hand, with the buttons facing up so you can see them.
F) Now, turn the remote over so the buttons are now facing the floor.
G) If you haven't swapped ends, in other words, if you turn the unit back over all the letters will read OK, the end closest to your body will have a small tray with a slot on the edge, which is just visible.
H) Hook your fingernail in the little slot. It's not easily seen, so use a nice light to find it.
I) Pull the tray out gently.
J) In the tray you'll see the battery. It should be "+" side up. There's a little plus sign(+) on the battery and that should be staring you in the eye. Look carefully. Under the battery is a,very thin strip of clear plastic film. Carefully remove the plastic strip. It's there to keep the battery from draining while it was sitting on the shelf, waiting for your order.
K) Make sure the battery is level, plus side up and gently close the drawer.
