Why a Bottom Drive? - The NutriMill Artiste comes with a bottom drive that delivers power much more efficiently to the mixing area than tilt-head mixers. This is because, in a bottom drive mixer, the direction the motor is spinning is the same direction the dough hook, whips, or paddles are spinning. Tilt-head mixers need to use gears or other device to convert the direction the motor is spinning. In the conversion process much of the motor's power can be lost. Much more power in the form of torque is available under load in a bottom drive mixer.
