Faith Hansen is eager to head into the wilderness and take up residence at Reindeer Rock as the new wife of a Mountie. She can't imagine anything better than the chance to meet new people and learn about their ways. Miss Hazel Hughes, matchmaker, arranges for Faith to meet up with several young men to see if any of them would suit, and she finds herself leaning toward Calvin Montrose, who sweeps her off her feet - quite literally - in Miss Hazel's parlor.

Calvin is a recent graduate of the academy, anxious to prove his worth to his country in a red serge coat. He believes that a wife will be just what he needs to see him through this first stressful assignment. But when it turns out that she can't be everything a wife really should be, will that mean the end of their journey together?
