How is the oil extracted/processed?

Our Bulgarian lavender essential oil is steam-distilled from the fresh, flowering tops of the lavender plant (Lavandula angustifolia). That means, steam is used to separate the plant's oils from its water, rather than hexanes or harsh chemicals.

Can I use it in skincare blends?

Yes! When using our organic lavender oil for skin care blends like a face or body oil, or a massage oil, dilute it in a carrier oil(s) like Viva Naturals Jojoba, Sweet Almond, Rosehip or Argan Oil so it makes up 2% of the blend (as a rule of thumb, that's about 12 drops per 1 oz of carrier oil). Why? Since natural essential oils are highly concentrated, they should be used with care (that means, doing a patch test first is a good idea, too.)
