The filter element is designed to remove or dramatically reduce a broad range of contaminants including: microorganisms like protozoa and pathogenic bacteria, heavy metals, herbicides, pesticides, organic chemicals, pharmaceuticals, petroleum-based products, unpleasant tastes and odors, silt, sediment and even viruses. The Sport Berkey Bottle uses the same filtration medium as our Black Berkey Purification Elements, which are used in our freestanding, gravity-fed systems.
