The clock can be mounted to wall, placed on desktop or any other places you want.
The wireless sensor installs just about anywhere (up to 330 ft under no barriers) to report on conditions in the greenhouse, garage, wine cellar or baby's room, places where proper temperature is crucial.

Warm Tips
The right step is to put 2 x AA batteries to the clock first and then put 2 x AA batteries to the wireless sensor. Otherwise, the signal of outdoor temperature couldn't be received. If it is still do not work, you can try to press the WAVE button for 3s to enter the RF reception manually.
