Mica Powder can be used to create beautifully vivid and bold cold process soaps and are absolutely stunning in clear products, like melt and pour soap, because the light can refract off the mica particles. The best part about using our powdered pigment micas is that they are so easy to incorporate without clumps, especially when using a frother and dispersing them in oil, water, or glycerin. The colors are smooth and vibrant!

Application:

Step 1:

For immediate results make sure to cut your your base into small cubes in order to melt faster. Melting in the Microwave will usually take 20-30 secs per 100 grams or 3.5 ounces. Otherwise, if using water to melt you will need the temperature between 158-176 °F

Step 2:

Add Mica Powder for the soap making process at the rate of 0.002-0.007 ounce per 3.5 ounce (100 grams) of soap base, depending on how vibrant of a color you wish to achieve. it’s also possible to add small amount of glycerin to makeup dye and then add to the liquid base. Then pour the soap into the mold and sprinkle some alcohol and repeat this process afterwards to avoid any bubbles or foam.

Step 3:

Pure alcohol is also used when making multi-layered soap. You need to add a light amount of alcohol to the frozen layer before pouring the next one in order to ensure that the layers are better attached to each other and do not break down during the use. 3.5 lbs. (1588 grams) of the base freezes in the mold on average in 5 hours
