"The Sky Calls" (Nebo Zovyot) is a groundbreaking Soviet-era film that features cutting edge special effects and a realistic look that set a new filmmaking standard, in stark contrast to the low budget scifi that the US was churning out in the 1950s.

The story details an actual space race to the planet Mars. The Soviet ship, 'Homeland', is docked at a space station prepping for departure. The American ship, 'Typhoon', is also there and decides to leave early in order to beat the Russians. But by cutting corners, they find themselves in dire straits and soon the Homeland must try a daring rescue. It succeeds, but the mission to Mars has to be scrubbed and both crews find themselves in peril, trappped on an asteroid with no rescue possible.

In the US, this film was butchered by major cuts and the addition of tacky monsters. It was released as "Battle Beyond The Sun". We are very proud to present the completely uncut and newly remastered version of this science fiction classic .
