Reef hermit crabs require extra empty shells to give them plenty of options for moving into bigger shells as they grow. Shell sizes range from 0.5" to 1.5" and are a perfect blend of shapes and sizes to meet the needs of most saltwater aquarium hermit crabs. A 12 oz bag has approximately 100 shells.
