This coin is a genuine bronze coin minted in the Holy Land over 2000 years ago during the reign of Alexander Jannaeus. What makes this coin of great historical and religious importance is its two references in the Bible, in the books of Mark and Luke, which relate Jesus' observations of a poor widow's exceptional charity. This coin is identical to the ones she would have had. They have been known to collectors for hundreds of years as "Widow's Mites".
