Forskolin is derived from a plant named coleus forskohlii that mildly stimulates the metabolism by increasing thyroid hormones and increases the secretion of insulin. This is the only plant-derived compound known to directly stimulate cellular cyclic AMP which boosts our metabolism. To simplify the process forskolin stimulates the release of stored fat from fat cells. Dosage and Side Effects The typical clinical tested dosages of forskolin are 100-250 mg of Coleus forskohlii (10% forskolin), twice per day. Start with on capsule in the morning and increase to 2 capsules per day as needed. Forskolin does not appear to have any adverse effects, but its safety profile has not been fully evaluated.
