The top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide (14-0) defeated the No. 4 Oklahoma Sooners 45-34 in the 2018 Orange Bowl played at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa put together a nearly flawless performance by completing 24-of-27 passes for 318 yards and four touchdowns. Alabama s 28-0 start included an Orange Bowl record 21 first quarter points. For much of the first half Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray was stymied by Alabama s defense. But in the second half, Murray led the Sooners (12-2) back into contention. Both quarterbacks showed why they finished as the top two candidates for the Heisman Memorial Trophy, which was won by Murray. For Alabama, Josh Jacobs rushed for 98 yards and Damien Harris had two rushing touchdowns. Xavier McKinney took home defensive MVP honors for his play against Oklahoma s wide receivers. Paying tribute to the Sooners, Alabama head coach Nick Saban said after the game, Oklahoma is a really, really good team, very explosive team on offense, (but) I thought we did a great job of controlling the game today. The 2019 CFP Capital One Orange Bowl includes the commercial-free game broadcast as well as the trophy presentation. It is a great addition to any fan's collection!
