It may take more than several hours of sand passing through the neck of an hourglass before opne masters the Hanayama HOURGLASS puzzle. This is a level 6 puzzle on a scale on 1 to 6 where 6 is the most difficult. Most will find the HOURGLASS Puzzle an excellent challenge. Requires much thinking, planning and many attempts at shifting pieces back and forth. Equally challenging is to put the puzzle back together. Occasionally someone will accidentally separate the pieces and think they are a genius !!!! NOT SO ! Mastering the puzzle means you can disassemble and assemble the four pieces easily. Meaning you know exactly which moves to execute to untangle the pieces and then to re-assemble.

Solving any Hanayama Puzzles is not an accidental lark, but a true understanding of how the pieces need to be manipulated. NO FORCE is ever required to solve the puzzle. Just a series of clever moves. Recommended for ages 12 to 105 years. A few bright children between 8 to 11 years may also enjoy, provided they understand that NO force rule. Forcing pieces may damage the puzzle !!
