These are Humulus Lupulus (Hop) seeds that were collected from a wild hop plant found in Midwest Wisconsin. The lineage of the female parent plant is unknown, but is likely a cross between formerly cultivated varieties and native varieties. Each female hop plant will provide unique brewing qualities. Hop seeds require a cold stratification period before they germinate. So, be sure to follow the germinating instructions provided with the seeds. Hops are diecious and therefore there is 50% chance that these seeds will grow into a female, cone producing plant. The other 50% of plants will be male, and NOT useful for brewing. If you live in a hop production area, it is imperative you properly dispose of any male plants (RoundUp, 2,4-D, etc.).
