Before replacing the heating element
Unplug the power plug from the wall outlet, remove the corresponding fuse from the fuse box, or flip the corresponding circuit breaker on the breaker panel.
Depending on your model, you may need to remove the cabinet of the dryer to access and replace the heating element.
