Lemongrass (Cymbopogan flexuosus) Tender Perennial. With its lemony scent and hint of rose aroma, lemon grass is an essential ingredient in Thai and Indonesian cooking. Lemon grass grows wild in Indonesia, Indochina, and tropical Australia, and it is cultivated in southeast Asia and Sri Lanka as a culinary herb and in India as a medicinal herb. Lemongrass can be harvested when the plant is a foot high. The leafy portion of the stalk can be used to prepare tea while the bottom portion can be used for flavoring food.
