  • EASY TO USE: The clear plastic allows you to check oil levels and how many small hive beetles are caught in the trap. 1 piece design makes it simple to use and add to and remove from the hive.

  • HOW IT WORKS: Small slots on the top of the traps allow beetles in but keeps bees out. The bees chase the beetles through the slots and into to the oil compartment. As the beetles are coated in oil, they quickly die and are trapped in the oil.

  • TIPS AND TRICKS: These traps work best when placed in the top and bottom corners of the hive between the frame and box. 2 traps per hive is great for maintenance of beetles, but 4-6 traps per hive are helpful in knocking down a large beetle population.

  • REUSABLE OR DISPOSABLE: The trap can be reused if desired, but would need to be rinsed out and refilled with oil. Many beekeepers find this type of trap can be disposed of at the end of the year and replaced each year.

  • WORKS WITH COMMON OILS: The compartment on each trap should be filled halfway with oil. Any cooking oil, mineral oil or liquid oil can be used in the traps. The dead beetles can be strained from the oil and the oil reused, but it is easier to replace with new.

  • WHEN TO USE THE TRAPS: Traps can be left in the hive year around and oil will keep in traps for several months, but traps should be checked every 2-3weeks. When the oil is full of beetles, it is time to clean and refill or replace. Warm months are the peak season for small hive beetles, so summer is the ideal time to use them.

  • FROM AN AMERICAN COMPANY: 12 pack of small hive beetle traps, enough for trapping beetles in up to 6 bee hives quickly and easily by using the bees natural tendencies to corral beetles into small places. Our beetle traps are the industry standard and an essential part of any beekeeper's beekeeping supplies.
  • WORKS NATURALLY WITH THE BEES: Beetles are naturally forced and corralled into the traps as the beetles run away from the honey bees. As the beetles hide in the traps, they get caught in the oil and can't come out.
  • EASY TO USE AND INSTALL: No tools are required to install, for best results place 2 traps in between the 2 outside frames on both sides of the top box. Beetles are naturally corralled into the corners of the top box, exactly where the traps work best.
  • DESIGNED TO KEEP BEES SAFE: These Cutts beetle traps have thin slots for beetles to enter, but are too small for bees to enter. Simply fill the traps halfway with oil and as beetles enter the oil compartment they die quickly. When full, simply toss throw away the trap and replace.
  • WORKS GREAT IN SPRING AND SUMMER: Hive beetle populations increase in the summer, but the best time to use our beetle traps in your bee hive is the spring before beetle populations increase. During the summer when beetle populations increase, you can place multiple traps in each box.
