The first-time Survivor castaways, including two-time The Amazing Race contestant Mike White and professional wrestler John Hennigan, are divided into tribes based on those that constantly have to overcome obstacles, and those who have used their advantages to excel in their fields. Survivor: David vs Goliath adds new twists that change the game: The castaway who did not receive a buff during the Tribe Expansion was sent to Exile Island with the opportunity to find the Idol Nullifier, which in turn can be used to void the use of a Hidden Immunity Idol. Additionally, instead of a traditional vote, the person who wins the final four Immunity Challenge gets to choose one person to take with them to the Final Three; and a fire-making challenge between the remaining two castaways determines who is eliminated. Jury changes included, a Final Three face a ten-person jury, and an open forum was held instead of having each jury member speak one by one.
