Grow "Velvet Queen" Sunflower from fresh Helianthus annus flower seeds. Velvet Queen produces beautiful 8 inch blooms in a mixture of yellow/orange to orange/red. The plants themselves stand at a mature height of around 5 to 8 feet tall. These annual flowers will grow quickly, bloom profusely throughout the summer months, and later die with the first killing frost. Seeds can be collected from the flower heads, for resowing the following year. Sunflowers are among one of the easiest plants to establish from fresh flower seeds. They don't take very long to germinate, need little to no care, and aren't too picky on soil conditions. Velvet Queen Sunflowers make an excellent cut flower for bouquets and floral arrangements as well. Grow Sunflowers along borders & fences or in flower beds as a background plant.
- Flowers - Velvet Queen is a showstopper with its red-orange blooms. The flowers themselves open up to a wide 6 to 8 inches in diameter and go great in bouquets and floral arrangements. An excellent cut flower!
- Growth - Velvet Queen Sunflowers will grow to a mature height of roughly 5 to 8 feet tall and can spread out a good 18 inches wide. They are easily established in the Spring for Summer blooms.
