Grow "Firecracker" Sunflowers from fresh Helianthus annus flower seeds. Firecracker is a hybrid variety of Sunflower that produces 4 to 5 inch, pollen free flowers. This beautiful Sunflower displays bi-colored blooms in yellow & orange and closely resembles the "Ring of Fire" Sunflower. Each plant will stand to a mature height of only 2 to 3 feet tall. The stems may need support until maturity. Once established, they are very strong and will stand upright with no need for stakes or support. Helianthus annus is grown as an annual flowering plant that grows quickly, blooms profusely through the summer months and later dies with the first killing frost. Sunflowers are among one of the easiest flowers to grow from fresh flower seeds. They are also seen as one of the most popular and sought after varieties when it comes to gardening. Sunflowers will make a great cut flower for floral arrangements & bouquets and are best used directly outdoors as a border plant, along driveways & fences or in fields by the masses.

  • Appearance and Size: Firecracker sunflowers are known for their vibrant, red rings on golden petals, creating a striking visual contrast. They are a compact variety, typically growing to about 2-3 feet in height, which makes them suitable for containers or smaller garden spaces.
  • Flowering and Use: These hybrid sunflowers produce a multitude of blooms, making them ideal for cut flower arrangements or for adding a burst of color in garden borders.
  • Cultivation: Firecracker sunflowers require full sun for optimal growth and should be planted where they can receive at least six hours of direct sunlight daily. They prefer well-drained soil and, while they can tolerate some dryness, regular watering, especially during dry spells, ensures healthy growth.
  • Ecological Benefits: These sunflowers are not just ornamental; they serve ecological functions by attracting pollinators like bees, butterflies, and birds. This makes them valuable for supporting local ecosystems, especially in urban gardening settings where pollinator habitats might be limited.
