When applied topically, Peru Balsam promotes the healing of dry, chapped or rashed skin in addition to reducing dermatitis, scars and eczema. It has marvelous antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that can keep colds away and enhance the circulatory system. Native to Central America, Peru Balsam is an evergreen tree that grows up to 120 feet and sprouts gorgeous fragrant flowers. The crude balsam of the tree is put through steam distillation to extract the essential oil.
