Asclepias Incarnata Ice Ballet is a marvelous long-blooming, bright white cousin of Butterfly Weed. Clear white flowers and dark green foliage make the colors of the hundreds of visiting butterflies glisten in the sunlight. Asclepias Butterfly Weed is actually a prized perennial for attracting butterflies. Flowers are long lasting and bloom early summer in to Fall depending on the weather. Full sun is best and some shade is tolerated, though blooming time and color may suffer. Asclepias Ice Ballet makes a great garden flower or cut flower. Asclepias is a virtually hassle-free perennial, offering three to four months of vanilla-scented, white flowers in clean clusters from midsummer to early fall. Deadheading the flowers will stimulate another bloom cycle about a month after the first one. The flowers, which are heavily laden with nectar and pollen, are particularly attractive to hummingbirds, butterflies, bees, and other beneficial insects.
- STRIKING HEIGHT & VIBRANT APPEAL: Our White Swamp Milkweed grows 36-48 inches tall, showcasing brilliant white perennial flowers that create a dynamic focal point in a butterfly garden, border, or meadow. These vibrant blooms add vertical interest and attract pollinators, making it a valuable addition to any outdoor space.
- LONG-LASTING BLOOMS: Enjoy a prolonged bloom season from early summer until the first frost with our flowers, which are ideal flower seeds to plant outside. They attract butterflies, bees, and other beneficial insects while providing a vital nectar source, turning your garden into a pollinator-friendly haven filled with activity.
- ADAPTABLE TO DIVERSE ENVIRONMENTS: Thriving in USDA Zones 3–8, milkweed plants live well in full sun and adapt to a range of soil types, from well-drained, rocky soils to moist areas. Ideal for creating a pollinator garden, these plants tolerate heat, drought, and damp areas while supporting monarch caterpillars and other beneficial insects.
- SIMPLE PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS: Sow 4 garden seeds per plant, spacing them 24 inches apart to allow for healthy growth. For improved germination, cold stratify the seeds by refrigerating them for 2–4 weeks before planting. Keep the soil consistently moist during the 21–42 day germination period, and watch your garden thrive with vibrant blooms that attract butterflies and pollinators.
- LOW MAINTENANCE & POLLINATOR SUPPORT: Naturally deer-resistant, our plants are ideal milkweed seeds for monarch butterflies. They serve as host plants for monarch larvae while providing a rich nectar source for pollinators like butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. Once established, they require minimal care, making them a valuable garden addition.
