Product Review
Alcea rosea is commonly known as Hollyhock. These annuals are tall and showy offering a profusion of color! This Summer Carnival mix has 4 inch double or semi-double blooms in shades of pink, rose, red and yellow. It makes a perfect display for the back of the border and hummingbirds and butterflies will not be able to leave it alone. This mix blooms all summer and will reseed for next year's display. Start the seeds indoors 6 - 8 weeks before the last expected frost. Press the seeds into the soil but do not cover them. Keep them moist until germination. With temperatures of 60 - 65F, germination is normally within 28 days. Transplant outdoors after frost danger has passed. Space the plants 24 inches apart. For areas with a longer growing season, directly sow outdoors in a prepared seedbed. Grow in full sun and in well-drained soil. During the blooming season, apply a balanced liquid fertilizer every few weeks.
