Peppermint, or Mentha piperita, is the perfect complement to any herb garden! It reaches 24 inches tall and has pink blooms in the summer. Peppermint is easy to identify by its dark green to nearly purplish colored leaves with pointed tips, distinct veins, and toothed edges. It is wonderfully fragrant and provides a cool fresh scent that catches in the summer breezes. Peppermint spreads by sending out runners, so if you do not want it spreading, plant it in a container. Sow Peppermint seeds indoors in early spring, or wait until after danger of frost has passed and sow the seed outdoors. Peppermint likes rich, moist soil, and the seed needs to be covered 1/8 of an inch. At temperatures of 70F, Peppermint seed germinates in normally 15 days.

As nitrogen-fixing legumes, they improve soil health, reducing the need for fertilizers and helping prevent erosion. As suitable flower seeds to plant outside, they are used for restoration and xeriscaping.

- EASY PLANTING & GERMINATION: Simply seed at 3-4 pieces per plant, spacing plants 12 - 24 inches apart. Our non GMO seeds germinate in 14 - 21 days at soil temperatures of 65°F. The recommended sowing time is late fall, allowing winter stratification for strong spring growth. With proper moisture, seeds establish easily in well-prepared seedbeds.
