Grow a garden filled with Basket of Gold Alyssum, from freshly harvested Alyssum saxatile flower seeds. Basket of Gold will produce mounds of golden-yellow blooms all summer long. The plants will grow to a mature height of roughly 8 to 12 inches tall. Due to it's low growth habit, Basket of Gold is popularly used as a groundcover. It's sweet scented blooms will attract an array of beneficial insects to the garden as well. Bumblebees, honeybees, butterflies & hummingbirds will cling to these plants, making it a perfect addition to any butterfly garden, or beneficial insectary. Basket of Gold Alyssum is categorized as an annual flowering plant. Simply put, the plants will grow from freshly harvested seeds, bloom profusely through the summer months and later die with the first killing frost. The plants can regrow the following year, if seeds fall to the bare ground beneath. You can also collect seeds from your Alyssum flowers when they are dried out, by the end of the Autumn season. Alyssum plants, such as Basket of Gold, will go great in pots and containers because of their short growth habit. They also look great in flower beds, raised beds, widow boxes, along borders, driveways, walkways & fences. Their carpet of golden-yellow blooms will act as a versatile groundcover & you may even consider adding these beautiful annuals in a rock garden as well. Carpet of Snow grows to a height of about 6 inches tall and will grow in the same conditions as well.
- Appearance: Basket of Gold Alyssum is known for its bright, vibrant yellow flowers that form a dense, mat-like cover. The plant grows to about 6 to 12 inches in height, making it a popular choice for ground cover or rock gardens.
