Grow a garden filled with Carpet of Snow Alyssum, from freshly harvested Lobularia maritima seeds. Carpet of Snow will produce gorgeous mounds of pure white flowers, all summer long. The plants only grow to a short height of roughly 4 to 6 inches tall. this makes them an excellent choice to use as a ground cover. Carpet of Snow Alyssum flowers will produce a sweet smelling fragrance, which attracts an array of beneficial insects to the garden. Many gardeners plant Carpet of Snow Alyssum in their butterfly gardens to attract the bumblebees, honeybees & butterflies. Carpet of Snow Alyssum is categorized as an annual flowering plant. Simply put, the plants will grow from freshly harvested seeds, bloom profusely through the summer months and later die with the first killing frost. The plants can regrow the following year, if seeds fall to the bare ground beneath. You can also collect seeds from your Alyssum flowers when they are dried out, by the end of the Autumn season. Alyssum plants, such as Carpet of Snow, will go great in pots and containers because of their short growth habit. They also look great in flower beds, raised beds, widow boxes, along borders, driveways, walkways & fences. Their carpet of pure, white blooms will act as a versatile groundcover and you may even consider adding these beautiful annuals in a rock garden as well. Combine Carpet of Snow with Royal Carpet Alyssum for a beautiful color contrast of violet on white. Royal Carpet grows to about the same height and will grow in the same conditions as well.
