This Opera variety is considered to be dwarf, only reaching 14 inches in height. It is also double-flowering which means that is has multiple rows of petals. This Opera Dahlia is deep red and loves a position in full sun, and it prefers rich, moist, well-drained soil. Start Dahlia seed indoors in early spring. Cover the seed lightly with soil and keep moist. At warm temperatures, 70 - 85F, germination usually occurs within 21 days.
