Milk Thistle (Silybum marianum) - Milk thistle is an annual or biennial herb plant grown from herb seeds. It is a very impressive ornamental herb plant with glossy, green-white marbled prickly foliage and large heads of sweet-scented rose-pink flowers. The stalks can be boiled for a vegetable, the leaves are used in salads, and the roots eaten like salsify. Not only is milk thistle used for the uses stated above, it also has a long history of use as a folk remedy.
