Improves the stability of the bike. The wide 22 inch base eliminates side to side rocking. Raising the front of the bike prevents front to back rocking. You don't need this leg if you use the bike as described in the manual. Highly recommended for use in nursing homes where the patient has difficulty pedaling correctly.
