A plug spawn is a little wooden cylinder that contains mushroom mycelium spores. Mycelium is all you need to start growing mushrooms. Insert each plug into drilled holes in logs or stumps, then seal over with wax. Mushrooms will begin to develop after 9-12 months. Springtime will provide the best conditions for the fungi to take hold as the fungus should be kept from freezing in the first month and a half.
