Oregon research in 2012 inspired Anna York to design the New Creation walking drills that dramatically changed her own walking skills after disability caused by multiple sclerosis.

Better for gait than gym or traditional Tai Chi forms. These Tai Chi exercises activate smaller, supportive muscles that are not significantly challenged by traditional gym exercises and machines. The diagonal stepping in various directions, along with arm movements, weight shifting and turning, build the core of the body and develop the ability to move the upper and lower body independently as is required in a normal gait. The repetitive drill format allows building strength better than doing the moves in a more complex traditional Tai Chi form in which the moves are transitory. After learning the basic patterns, it is fun to do the routines alone or with others in a gym, tai chi class, or outdoors in fresh air.
