Product Review
Lacinato (Brassica oleraceae) is the most widely-recognized Kale variety out there, and for good reason. This is a lovely variety (also known as Dinosaur, Black Tuscan, or Toscano) unique in appearance, flavor & texture. A real workhorse, the deeply savoyed leaves with underturned edges on tall, upright stalks make for easy harvesting. We can't grow enough of Lacinato...it is in very high demand at our local health food market. This selection comes from breeder Frank Morton, which both we and the Organic Seed Alliance determined to be the best performer in our trials, noted for vigor and pest resistance. The hearty leaves of this kale hold up well to cooking in soups and stews, and make excellent kale chips. 40 days baby leaf, 60 days mature. Biennial. Packet: 1 gram, ~200 seeds
