The Giant Marconi Pepper plant is one of the biggest Italian-type sweet peppers, producing long fruits with slightly lobed ends. Bred in Italy, the Giant Marconi Sweet Pepper is an All American Selections winner, judged best in its class for earliness, yield, pepper size and flavor. The large, tapered fruits grow up to 8" long x 3" wide and have a wonderful smoky yet sweet flavor. One of the fastest maturing pepper plants around, you can eat the large peppers when they are green, but if you can wait till they ripen to red, the delectable smoky sweet flavor will make your taste buds burst. These peppers are great in a large variety of cooked dishes but are especially tasty when grilled or roasted for sandwiches, if you cannot wait, they are delicious fresh off the plant. Giant Marconi peppers are not only delicious they are chock full of Vitamins A and C , provide dietary fiber and antioxidants, are low in fat and are great all around addition to your daily diet. Place the plants 15-24 inches apart in a sunny garden location in soil that is rich in organic matter and well drained. To help maintain soil moisture, which most peppers need, mix some compost into the planting holes and mulch around the plants. Giant Marconi Pepper plants can grow 18-30 inches tall and may require some staking or caging to support the plant and its bountiful harvest. Expect to be enjoying this wonderful pepper about 62-70 days after planting. To assure a continual harvest keep peppers picked and they will continue producing until frost
